Isle of Handa

The isle of Handa is located on the North West coast of Sutherland and provides a breeding ground for many thousands of sea birds . A composting toilet was required to meet the needs of the large number of visitorsĀ  who visit the island in the summer months. The building was installed in one week using a steelĀ  and timber framing and larch cladding .There are no concrete foundations and by utilising the weight of sand to keep the structure stable the option is left open for complete removal
